Arch and flatten is a fundamental movement of Clinical Somatic education and holds so many benefits. If you are feeling tension in your back or abdomen then this movement really helps to soften bracing which allows you to breath more fully. As the centre of the body moves it aides digestion and you will start to feel the gentle undulation of the spine and get a sense of the lower back and pelvis connects up the top of the spine and the head and neck.

If you are feeling stressed or a little anxious this can be a great tool to use in addition with anything else you use.

This movement goes in to arch and flatten and adds in the arms , upper back and chest muscles. allowing you to access a deeper release to lengthen more of the muscles around the spine, neck and shoulders.

With the added spiral of the arms you can gain a deeper breath as the chests muscles are pandiculated also, throughout this movement, encouraging more oxygen intake and aiding in stress relief.

This movement also promotes better digestion as it continues to help alleviate bracing in the body which slow down digestion or make is sluggish as there is little movement in the abdomen when that happens.

This backlight allows you to stay lying on your back in case lying on your front is uncomfortable or unavailable. Take this video nice and slow while you learn how to regain control over the muscles of your back. This will help you to release built up tension and find more ease of movement whilst reducing musuclar pain. Head to the arch nd curl video underneath to lengthen the back muscles out after doing this video.

This video helps to lengthen out the muscles of the back, including a gentle release of legs. This can be done by itself or use it after a back lift movement to ensure you have done a full release.out
